Westcoast
(part 2)

We recently had the great opportunity to play at a major festival in San Diego, CA and let me tell you it was a rollicking good road trip.  To top it off we rocked our little hind ends off.

Spirit West Coast is a three day music fest held each year featuring a buttload of bands and artists, with a weekend attendance of around 40,000 people.  Yeah. That’s a lot of people.

The stage we played on was about four feet off the ground (the drums were even higher so joel had a pretty sweet view) with plenty of stage space for rock in roll antics. They had the giant stage lights bearing down on us and camera guys roaming around. We were on the ExtremeFaith stage with a bunch of really talented up-and-coming artists who all were incredibly professional and nice.  Good times were had by all.

The best things about playing a festival?
I love the uber-professionalism of the stage crew.  They transition bands and gear in the blink of an eye and make it all so easy for the bands to put on a great show.  I also love the way that people are searching, hunting, for new bands.  They move from stage to stage just listening and soaking in the music. It was sweet to see people come streaming into the tent during our set and check out Atlas Takes Aim for the first time (There were even some Vegas-ians there). Big thank you to everyone who showed us love and support - especially the Blickenstaff clan for the all the help, Dave & Laura for being our barkers and the McCoy tribe for a place to sleep & cruise!

We are playing another music fest in Boulder City this Saturday the 7th, and unlike Spirit West Coast, this one is freeeeeeeee! (free admission, free food, how could you go wrong?)

Look out for us at more festivals next summer, we’ve only just begun.

Also check out my blog about finding Narnia in uncle Ken’s backyard.  It was one of the highlights of the trip.

playingforthousands (part 1)
Imagine if you will standing on a stage with a guitar in your hand looking out over an audience so big that when they clap to the beat the guys farthest away are a second or two behind because the sound has'nt reached them yet.
That is what we're going to be doing on Sunday May 25 at Spirit West Coast music festival, where an average of 40,000 people come each day to see bands.
"How," you may ask, "did Atlas Takes Aim get a show like that?"We entered a contest in Phoenix, drove down to the valley of the sun, rocked our faces off and won a slot at this mega-festival.
It could be that we're playing on the back of a flatbed truck at nine am in the parkinglot by the port-a-potties... but hey, we'll be having a grand ole time. Actually we'll be on the ExtremeFaith stage on Sunday at noon, but I just wanted to say port-a-potty.

(or ‘Why You should get off your duff and see a show’)
If you’ve been to an Atlas Takes Aim show recently, you probably noticed Billie incubating the newest member of Atlas Takes Aim. He (or she) should be fully constructed sometime in late August at which time the band will be taking a hiatus to do the secret rites of rock-n-roll indoctrination (& let Billie recover while introducing said member to life outside the womb). The moral of the story? Don’t wait until it’s too late! Make plans to come and rock out one of our upcoming shows now.

theLonelymyspace
Once upon a time Atlas Takes Aim had a Myspace page. The Myspace page was so happy to be ATA’s page; it showed off the band pics, played the bands music with pride, and displayed all the magical treats of ATA. But alas! It silently cried while other Myspace band pages had hundreds and even thousands of friends (even when the band wasn’t very good) while it’s stream of incoming friend requests was more like a trickle. It refused to use bots or to harass people with spam, it just hoped and prayed that the fans of the band would come to realize just how much it wanted to be friends, and maybe they would tell their friends and more people could hear Atlas Takes Aim’s goodness and rock wisely. So it waited. And waited. And waited…

Make our little Myspace page happy! Be friends with our page.
