P.S. You can listen to our new album or buy it on our website. Or just stop by for tea and rock n roll crumpets (like regular crumpets but with mango jelly) at our blog, twitter, facebook, myspace, and/or youtube. ^_^
Yup. Our show tonight at Diablo's got cancelled due to inclement weather.
Are the judges brontophobic? Were we going to be playing outside? Is Mason secretly Zeus and he will be busy tonight?
I don't know.
Course, it was a battle of the bands show, maybe one of the other bands is playing dirty and it's really not cancelled at all. Hmm...
We'll let you know when it get rescheduled!

If you've been to an Atlas Takes Aim show lately you've heard our take on The Postal Service's "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" (which is sooo fun to play by the way). Any cover suggestions you'd like to hear us bust? Don't be shy, leave a note in the comments letting us know.
We've been working on some spanking new material which I (Billie the girl) am super excited about. The new songs cover a wide range of styles; aggressive arena rock, experimental, and trip-hop-ish rock with a smattering of diamonds. It's the Atlas Takes Aim style you dig, but in new flavors that are going to move you and melt your brain (in a good way).
If you haven't already, invite your chums to listen to our new album and let us know what you think. You can also buy it or download it on our website. You can also drop a note to us at our blog, twitter, facebook, myspace, and/or youtube. ^_^
On to the shows!
April 22nd (This Thursday)
Diablo's in the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino
3770 Las Vegas Boulevard South,
Las Vegas, NV 89109
If you're a fan, a friend, or just obnoxiously loud, we need you. This Thursday Atlas Takes Aim is battling for $500 cash (and a shot at $10,000) in the Rock the Roof Battle of the Bands.
One of the things we'll be judged on is crowd turnout & noise level after our last song so come on down and lend your voice to our cause.
Show starts at 9 pm, we're on second (around 9:40 pm). 21+ with Ocean City Defined, Black Market Music, and Black Beans & Hippie Liver.
That's it for now, what's cooking with you?

No, I'm not talking about bad music as in sexually suggestive lyrics, or killing cops, or even what my parents call "drug music". I'm talking about Barney.
There. I said it.
The Girl is A Mom posted about her daughter getting kid targeted CD's as gifts and her desire to educate her in good, real music and I just had to jump on the wagon.
We are so not going to be the family moaning about having to listen to Barney music. Uh-ah. Our pooka listens to everything we listen to just like she eats what we eat.*
What do we listen to? Flaming Lips, The Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, oldies tunes. Deathcab, Jimmy Eat World and Bjork also get a lot of play at our house. At my sister's house she gets her fill of Country because it is verboten here. ^_^
I think it really helps that we limit her TV watching (She can't get hooked on bad Barney tunes if she's never seen the show).
What about at your house? When you were growing up did your parents direct you toward music made specifically for kids or just share their record/tape/cd collection with you?
*One little caveat to this, when I eat McDonald's I don't feed it to Pooka and if I'm going to listen to a whole Deftones album etc. I don't around her, that's a lot of raw emotion for such a little squiblet. :)
Folks, let me just tell you that we're stoked.
For a week or two we were stretched thin, finalizing artwork, revamping the website, going bonkers on facebook/twitter/youtube trying to pump up the... *ahem, volume.
But it's all been worth it.
The new album has landed and we've been getting a great response. People are finding us from all over the nation, and a few from overseas, which just makes our hearts go pitter-patter.
We've got some great shows lined up. This Sunday at CRCC, Blue Martini in March, a California tour in May and Green Valley Ranch in June. Good times...
But I gotta mention that the new album THE WAY OUT IS THROUGH is available right here on the website. (www.AtlasTakesAim.com) including a free song you won't find anywhere else on the web.
That's right, you can actually get a song you can't find anywhere else... for free.
And it has magical properties!*
So what are you waiting for? It's free! go download it already.

Two days ago the UPS guy arrived at my door with eleven boxes. After initially wondering if billie the girl had ordered too many lasers again, I realized what they were...THE ALBUMS!
I did a little dance, right then and there.
See, as some of you know, we've been burning the candle at both ends trying to get this album launched. We've had technical problems, babies, snowstorms, killer asteroids, bear attacks, and even lives. (some of these may be hyperbole)
But now I am cradling the fruit of our labors (wrapped in shiny plastic) and hoping that someone else out there might also enjoy what we've made.
So, here's a little question for any of you listening in: What's something you're proud of that was really tough to do at the time? I'm talking, it nearly melted your face off, but now you look back and say, "It was all worth it."
I'm interested to know.
